Brown, Mark. “What Makes Good AI? | Game Maker’s Toolkit.” YouTube, uploaded by Game Maker’s Toolkit, 31 May 2017, www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bbhJi0NBkk.

Mark Brown cites a plethora of video games with examples of “good” Artificial Intelligence (AI), while also defining what about said AI makes them so enjoyable. He states that good AI communicates its intention to the player, interacts with the game’s other systems, and has its own goals apart from interacting with the player. Communication helps players understand how to interact with the AI, while the other elements make the AI feel more like a person making educated decisions. These arguments are distilled from a set of articles that discuss specific games, and Brown brings them together to create a cohesive picture of a good AI for any type of game. These concepts, which have emerged from an interactive medium, can still apply to older, non-interactive mediums like novels. After all, most novels include characters that are not controlled by the reader (similar to AI), even if they are not based on a systemic program.
